Today, I wanted to share some valuable insights gained from my own fitness journey. If I had started it all over again, here's what I would do differently:
Lift Weights:
1. Forget spending countless hours on cardio alone in the pursuit of a "toned" physique, especially you ladies out there. The key to achieving that “toned” look lies in building muscle. So, don't be afraid to embrace weightlifting!
Eat More Whole Foods:
2. In the past, I fell into the trap of buying diet foods plastered with labels like "low fat," "low calorie," "high protein," or "sugar-free." Little did I know that I was consuming a truckload of artificial ingredients, fillers, and plain junk. Mother Nature has all the nourishment we need, so let's focus on eating wholesome foods.
Not Drink So Much:
3. Alcohol might be a social lubricant, but it's also a toxin that can hinder your weight loss goals and impact your overall well-being. I wish I had learned how to be more confident in social settings without relying so heavily on alcohol for comfort.
Prioritize Sleep:
4. Sleep is an absolute game-changer. It helps reduce stress, curb sugar cravings, and even prevents unwanted fat accumulation around the midsection. Establishing consistent nighttime and morning routines would have been a top priority for me.
Focus on How I FELT, Not Just How I Looked:
5. In my pursuit of a perfectly chiseled six-pack, I became obsessed, willing to suffer, starve, and basically do whatever it took to reach a certain aesthetic. It was a wake-up call when I shifted my focus to how I actually felt. Now, I use workouts and nutrition to make myself feel good, and the amazing side effect is looking good too!
As someone who has endured the ups and downs of yo-yo dieting, I've finally managed to heal my relationship with food and establish a fit lifestyle that lasts all year round. I encourage you to learn from my experiences and avoid these mistakes in your own fitness journey, now and in the future.
Remember, you have the power to create a healthier and happier version of yourself.
As always, #ClaimYourCrown
