Are you an emotional eater? Do you cope with stress, loneliness, and boredom by devouring your entire pantry?
Many women suffer alone in this issue, so I’m here to tell you that you’re not alone.
Emotional eating can not only lead to unwanted weight gain, but it also never actually solves the problem or emotion that you’re having.
Before you find yourself in your pantry looking for your next crunchy sweet snack, ask yourself:
“How do I feel right now?”
“Why do I feel this way?”
In other words… PAUSE.
Take a moment to become present in your body. Become aware of what emotions are coming up for you.
Then ask yourself:
“What is a more positive way to deal with this emotion?”
If you’re sad, you can journal your thoughts, talk to your mom, or explore therapy options.
If you’re lonely, you can Facetime a girlfriend, join a community group, or set up a family group chat.
If you’re bored, you can go for a walk, dive into a book, or explore a new hobby.
Just remember: food can NEVER solve emotional problems. In fact, it may even worsen them.
