Surprising “Healthy” Foods That Cause Obesity?

I was recently reading a book called The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung and in it he describes how sugar and high insulin levels is the LEADING cause of obesity.

It made me realize how IMPORTANT it is to be aware of how much sugar we’re consuming each day.

The most obvious are:

  • Traditional store-bought cookies, cake, cupcakes, muffins, donuts
  • Candy, ice cream, popsicles, chocolate bars
  • Soda, slurpees, milkshakes
  • Anything and everything that you deem as “dessert”

The not so obvious are: (check labels)

  • Ketchup
  • Salad dressings
  • Cereal
  • Sports drinks
  • BBQ sauce
  • Low fat yogurt
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Chocolate milk
  • Granola
  • Flavored coffees
  • Iced tea
  • Protein bars
  • Premade soup
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned baked beans
  • Premade smoothies

Can you believe it!? Even the “so-called” healthy stuff that you might be buying at the store might be laden with sugar without you realizing it.

Of course, many of these foods are okay in our diets, but it’s important to just be aware that SOME products may be sneakily adding in sugar without you knowing.
